Rishi Maitreya, answering Vidurji’s deep and inquisitive questions, began to narrate the sacred and profound tale of Brahmaji’s origin.

Before time itself unfolded, before the cosmos took shape, there was only the Supreme Being—Vasudeva, the all-knowing and primordial Lord, resting in the vast and unfathomable netherworld (Patal Lok). His eyes, like lotus petals, were closed in deep Yog Nidra, immersed in his own divine bliss. At that moment, the illustrious Sanat Kumaras, eternal sages of supreme wisdom, approached him with a burning quest—to comprehend the essence of the Supreme Truth. As they uttered their inquiries, the Lord slowly opened his eyes, casting his divine gaze upon them. Overwhelmed with devotion, the Sanat Kumaras recited hymns of His cosmic play (Leelas), invoking the eternal wisdom that lay dormant within the fabric of creation.

Moved by their sincerity, Lord Sankarshan, the infinite and ever-detached manifestation of the Divine, narrated the sacred knowledge to them. This wisdom, passed through a divine lineage, was received by Sage Sankhyayan, who later imparted it to his disciples, including the great Parashar Rishi and Brihaspati Ji. It was from Rishi Parashar that this supreme knowledge was transmitted to Rishi Maitreya, who now, seeing Vidurji’s devotion, recounted it with the same reverence and purity.

At the beginning of creation, the entire universe was submerged in the infinite cosmic waters. Only Shri Narayan, in his transcendental form, remained—his awareness intact, yet detached, resting upon the eternal serpent, Sheshanaga. Within his supreme consciousness, the latent impressions of all past creations lay embedded, waiting for the cycle of manifestation to begin once more. His infinite being contained all souls, all possibilities, and all realities within Him. Like fire concealed in wood, His divine potency remained unexpressed, waiting for the appointed time to awaken.

When the cycle of time (Kaal Shakti) stirred once again, signaling the dawn of creation, a magnificent lotus bud emerged from the Lord’s navel. It carried within it the essence of all worlds, the unmanifest reality ready to unfold. The Supreme Lord, in his infinite compassion, infused this lotus with divine consciousness, and from it emerged Brahma, the self-born called Swayambhu, the embodiment of the Vedas.

Seated upon the golden throne of the lotus, Brahma opened his eyes. All around him was an ocean of darkness, stretching endlessly into the void. Bewildered, he turned his head in all four directions, seeking understanding, and thus, his four faces manifested, each one representing a cardinal direction. Yet, the mystery of his own existence confounded him. Where had he come from? What was the origin of the lotus that held him aloft amidst the infinite waters? A deep yearning to unravel this cosmic puzzle consumed him.

Determined to seek the truth, Brahma descended into the depths of the lotus stalk, diving into the vast unknown. He searched tirelessly, probing deeper and deeper, yet he found no source, no beginning, only an abyss of eternal darkness. The more he searched, the more his doubts grew, until finally, exhausted and disheartened, he surrendered his futile efforts and returned to the lotus. Seated once more, he resolved to turn inward, silencing his mind and surrendering to the vastness of his own being.

For a span equivalent to a hundred divine years, Brahma immersed himself in profound meditation. His breath slowed, his thoughts dissolved, and his consciousness merged with the infinite. And then, in that state of supreme stillness, the revelation came—within the depths of his own self, the vision of the Supreme Lord manifested.

He beheld the magnificent form of Shri Narayan, reclining upon the cosmic serpent Sheshanaga, whose thousand radiant hoods spread like a celestial canopy above him. The Lord’s transcendental body, dark as the night sky yet luminous as a million suns, lay adorned in golden silks, the golden-lined Shrivatsa mark, celestial ornaments, and the resplendent Kaustubh gem. His divine presence radiated serenity and boundless power, a harmony of stillness and dynamic creation. The lotus-eyed Lord smiled, and in that moment, all of Brahma’s doubts vanished. He understood his purpose. He realized that all creation stems from the Supreme, that the very essence of knowledge and wisdom flows from surrender and divine grace.

Awed and humbled, Brahma, now infused with divine wisdom, praised the Lord with heartfelt hymns. His words, resonating with gratitude and devotion, became the foundation of creation itself. In response, Shri Narayan, with infinite love, blessed him with the knowledge and power to shape the cosmos. Thus, with the Lord’s guidance, Brahma began his sacred task—bringing forth the multitude of beings, weaving the intricate tapestry of existence, and setting the great wheel of time into motion.

Brahmaji’s journey mirrors our own quest for self-discovery and purpose. In today’s world, where external distractions often cloud our vision, we tirelessly search for meaning in the material realm, much like Brahma’s initial futile descent into the lotus stalk. However, true wisdom is not found in external pursuits but through introspection, meditation, and surrender to the divine flow of life.

The story of Brahmaji teaches us the value of stillness and faith as he attained knowledge when he stilled his mind and connected with the Supreme, we, too, can find clarity and purpose when we silence the chaos within and align ourselves with higher consciousness. Whether through meditation, spiritual discipline, or devotion, the path to wisdom remains the same—turning inward and seeking the divine presence within. The answers, the strength, and the divine guidance we seek are already present in the depths of our being—waiting to be realized, just as Brahmaji found his truth within the presence of the Supreme Lord.
